    Gene Akerberg

    Retirement dream “Teaching all my grandchildren how to navigate a sailboat on Lake Winnipesaukee.”

    Gene joined Charter Capital Management in 2003 and has been serving the investment and taxation needs of his clients, which include individuals and their families, since 1976.

    A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1978 and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) since 1994, Gene is a longstanding member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Planning Association. He spends many hours each year keeping up with the latest tax pronouncements and tax court decisions.

    Gene uses an educational approach to help his clients build retirement-planning solutions that seek to minimize potential tax burdens.

    Gene is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee and its Portfolio Management Subcommittee.

    In addition to serving his clients, Gene applies his financial acumen by serving on Boards of several local non-profit religious, educational and veterans organizations. He is also an active member of the business community, having served many years as a Director and two terms as the President of a local chamber of commerce.

    Gene and his wife Joyce live in Milton, New Hampshire and have seven grown, married children.

    Sarah Serling

    Retirement dream “Spending summers on Mooselookmeguntic Lake and winters sailing in the Caribbean with my husband and our family.”

    Sarah joined Charter Oak Capital Management in the Fall of 2015, returning to financial planning after serving as Director of Finance and Legal at Adaptive Communications (now Optiv). Prior to that, Sarah spent four years in wealth management and financial planning at Morgan Stanley.

    An attorney and Certified Financial Planner®, Sarah brings an organized and empathic approach to her client relationships. Working together, Sarah assists clients in setting and achieving goals in order to live the life they envision.

    Sarah is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee and its Behavioral Finance Subcommittee.

    Sarah is active in various community organizations. She is a member of the Seacoast Women’s Giving Circle, a former Vice President of the Seacoast Repertory Theatre Board of Trustees and a 2012 graduate of Leadership Seacoast.

    A former competitive mountain bike racer, Sarah now embraces yoga and outdoor activities with her family, especially hiking and downhill skiing. Originally from upstate New York, Sarah lives in Madbury, New Hampshire with her husband Dan Clapp and their three daughters.

    Emma joined Charter Oak Capital Management in the Fall of 2015. She began her wealth management career at Morgan Stanley, where she specialized in comprehensive financial planning.

    As a financial planner, Emma works closely with clients and their families to identify goals, evaluate available resources and develop a personalized financial plan. Using an attentive ear to identify what is most important to clients, Emma then crafts a personalized roadmap and uses a unique process to implement and monitor their plan.

    Emma is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee, its Portfolio Management and Behavioral Finance Subcommittees.

    In her spare time, Emma serves on the Board of Directors of Caring Unlimited, and enjoys biking, hiking and traveling. A native of southern Maine, Emma lives in Wells, Maine with her husband Chris their son Jackson and black Labrador retriever Docker.

    Retirement dream “Travel the country in an airstream visiting national parks”

    Alicia joined Charter Oak Capital Management in the fall of 2018 as an Associate Financial Advisor. Most recently, she was an Associate Financial Advisor at O’Brien Wealth Partners in Boston, Massachusetts.

    Her professional career has included paralegal and wealth management experiences in New York, Washington, D.C., and Boston.

    Alicia is passionate about fostering healthy advisor-client relationships through sound financial planning and investment and assists our Senior Advisors in these efforts.

    Alicia holds a BA Political Science and History from the University of Maine and a financial planning certificate from Boston University.

    A native Mainer, she and her husband, Rob, live in South Portland, Maine. She enjoys hiking, swimming, kayaking and traveling domestically and abroad.

    Katy joined Charter Oak Capital Management in the Spring of 2016. Katy began her financial services career in 2000 at A. G. Edwards in Portsmouth, NH and in 2013 became a Vice President, Financial Advisor at York Investment Partners.

    A seasoned financial services professional, Katy helps clients identify their goals and manage their investments through market conditions.

    Katy is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee.

    Katy is active in the community, volunteering her time with End 68 Hours of Hunger, as well as York’s elementary schools and youth programs.

    In her spare time, Katy enjoys watching her children play ice hockey, summer days at the beach, travel and boating off the coast of Maine. Originally from South Freeport, Maine, Katy lives in York Harbor, Maine, with her husband, Jason and their three children, Jillian, Bradley and Ryan and their black Labrador retriever Rudder.

Gene Akerberg is a Financial Advisor with Charter Oak Capital Management. Since 1976, he has served the investment and taxation needs of his clients, including individuals, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Gene uses an educational approach to help his clients build retirement-planning solutions that seek to minimize potential tax burdens. Gene has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1978, and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) 1994. He is also a longstanding member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Planning Association. He spends many hours annually keeping up with the latest tax pronouncements and court decisions.

Gene and his wife Joyce live in Milton, NH. They have seven grown, married children. In addition to serving his clients Gene also applies his financial acumen by serving on board of directors of several local non-profit religious, educational and veterans organizations. He is also an active member of the business community having served many years of the board of directors and two terms as the president of a local chamber of commerce.
